Sign-up Opens for Clear Security Fast Pass at Oakland International Airport
Travelers at All Three Bay-Area Airports to Use Clear Card with Addition of Oakland Lanes in March.
NEW YORK, NY, FEBRUARY 29, 2008 – Clear, the fast pass for airport security, has opened an enrollment station in Terminal 1 of the Oakland International Airport (OAK), which joins six other enrollment stations in the Bay Area. Clear was selected, after a competitive bidding process, by the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners last month to provide express security lane services at OAK. All airlines operating from OAK, and their passengers, will be able to use Clear’s fast pass lanes beginning in March.
Clear lanes opened at San José and San Francisco International Airports in 2007 and currently over 25,000 Bay-area cardholders use Clear to get through the checkpoint with less hassle. With the addition of Oakland, Clear members will enjoy faster, more predictable passage through airport security no matter which airport that they fly from in the Bay Area.
“Our Bay Area business travelers are excited that they will be able to use Clear to get through airport security at Oakland Airport," said Bay Area Business Travel Association VP of Programs, David Kuffel. "By making travel more efficient, it allows employees to be more productive when they’re on the road and eases the time in airport security lines that plagues frequent fliers.”
"Offering excellent customer service is one of Oakland International Airport's top priorities. We are pleased to offer the Clear program, which adds predictability and reduces stress at the passenger screening checkpoints," said Steve Grossman, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland, which owns and operates the airport.
Clear enrollment stations are already operating at San José and San Francisco International Airports, and the American Express Travel Service Office (Market Street) for the convenience of Bay Area residents wishing to enroll in downtown San Francisco. Clear has also brought its enrollment kiosks onsite to more than a dozen area businesses and is scheduling new appointments to come onsite for area law firms, corporations, and other businesses. The Clear enrollment station at the Oakland International Airport is open from 5am – 7pm daily.
“We’re thrilled to add this enrollment station at the Oakland International Airport to our popular Bay Area Clear network. In March, when the Oakland Clear lanes are open, all passengers on all airlines flying out of Oakland, San Francisco, or San José will be able to use their Clear card,” said Steven Brill, Clear’s CEO.
Clear’s hotel partner, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, has actively promoted Clear to members of its Hyatt Gold Passport loyalty program since it formed a partnership with Clear over two years ago. Hyatt purchased memberships so that its Diamond and Platinum Gold Passport members receive a complimentary year of Clear. To redeem that promotion, Hyatt Gold Passport members can go to flyclear.com/hyatt to start enrollment.
Clear cards are currently accepted in 14 airports across the country.
