Clear® Opens Enrollment For Fast Pass at Dulles and Reagan Express Security Lanes to Launch Next Month
WASHINGTON, DC, FEBRUARY 11, 2008 – Clear®, the fast pass for airport security, announced today that it has opened enrollment stations at both Washington Dulles International and Reagan National Airports. All airlines operating from the airports, and their passengers, will be able to use Clear’s fast pass lanes beginning in March. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) Board chose Clear to operate its fast pass lanes at its January 16 Board meeting after a competitive bidding process.
“The Airports Authority is pleased to work with Clear to make this program available to our passengers,” said James E. Bennett, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. “We work very hard to identify ways that our facilities and passenger services can make the trip through our airports go as smoothly as possible.”
Clear enrollment stations are already operating at the American Express Travel Office at 15th and K Streets and in the Congressional Federal Credit Union in the Longworth House Office Building. Clear has also brought its enrollment kiosks onsite to area businesses and is scheduling new appointments to come onsite for area law firms, corporations, government offices and other businesses. Additional retail locations will open when Dulles and Reagan’s Clear lanes launch in March.
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton said, “I have been particularly concerned to get Clear fast pass here at Dulles and Reagan to help reduce the delay created by airport security for our frequent flying DC area public, including my colleagues in Congress, and other government workers.” She added, “I am also pleased that my work on aviation security in Congress will be enhanced at no cost to the taxpayers. It is the best of all worlds.”
Steve Clark, British Airways' SVP Customer Service, Americas said, "We look forward to seeing Clear start up at Washington Dulles International Airport. British Airways offers up to twenty four flights per week from Dulles to London and it is a major gateway for us. Travelers using the British Airways terminal at JFK can already use the Clear lanes and we welcome the opportunity to create a faster, more predictable experience for all of our customers."
British Airways was Clear’s first airline partner and is the sponsor of Clear’s program at JFK Terminal 7, home to British Airways’ overseas flights, United Airlines’ flights to the West Coast, and the operations of other airlines.
“We’re delighted to open the enrollment stations today at both airports in the nation’s capital,” said Steven Brill, Clear’s CEO. “Travelers using these Airports have been signing up in large numbers at our two existing enrollment stations and are clamoring for the Clear fast pass lanes to open now in their home town. Fliers around the country have been anxiously waiting for Clear to open in DC and these Airports are a major, important addition to our network.”
"Clear will allow our firm’s travelers to expedite their passage through airport security in Washington, DC and other major cities," said Ed Faberman, co-chair of Wiley Rein’s Aviation Practice. "We are pleased to partner with Clear and we thank them for coming to our offices for onsite registration, which will simplify and expedite the enrollment process."
Clear’s hotel partner, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, has actively promoted Clear to members of its Hyatt Gold Passport loyalty program since it formed a partnership with Clear over two years ago. Hyatt purchased memberships so that its Diamond and Platinum Gold Passport members receive a complimentary year of Clear. To redeem that promotion, Hyatt Gold Passport members can go to flyclear.com/hyatt to start enrollment.
“Hyatt is proud to provide Clear to our most loyal guests and proud to be the first hotel chain to do so,” said Tom O’Toole, Hyatt’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Clear provides fliers with a quality travel experience.” All government employees (federal, state and local) receive 13 months for the price of 12 when enrolling in Clear. To receive the government discounts offered by Clear, applicants must start their enrollment from flyclear.com/government. This discount will be available to all first responders, emergency workers, legislators and their staffs, and law enforcement officers, among others, at the local, state and federal levels.
Since last year, Clear has been providing free Clear cards to active duty military that choose to enroll in the program – an offer that will continue and be available at all Clear enrollment locations. Already, Clear has signed up over 2,500 DC-area residents (100,000 nationwide) at flyclear.com. Those customers, and other DC applicants, will soon receive the timesaving, convenient benefits of their Clear card at their home airport.
